A Family-Friendly Employer
Frederick County Public Schools is a "family-friendly" employer, according to the Frederick County Office for Children and Families, which named FCPS among the local award winners in 2004.
FCPS provides full- and part-time staff a wide range of benefits and services, encouraging them to spend time with their families and making it more economically feasible to do so. For new parents, the benefits begin with paid parental leave and a transition program that eases them into those early weeks with a newborn or adopted child. The possibility of working part-time and paid leave to care for a sick child accommodate the evolving needs of today's families.
At FCPS, it's understood that moms and dads who work need time to attend conferences with teachers. Employees can enroll their children in the school where they work or in the same feeder pattern to accommodate childcare arrangements. Another advantage: Before- and after-school childcare programs are located at many schools.
The FCPS health care plan includes vision and dental coverage. A cafeteria plan features flexible spending and pre-tax dependent-care options that can be real plusses for families who want to make the most of their earnings. Finally, there's free, confidential professional assistance for employees when personal problems affect their health and well being. See the Benefits page for details. |
